Zamosze - Stare Masiewo

🏡 Forest Settlement of Zamosze on the Edge of the Białowieża Forest


🔹 Zamosze is a small settlement in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, Hajnówka County, Narewka Commune. Administratively, it is a colony of the village Stare Masiewo.
🔹 The buildings belong to the Białowieża National Park – it houses the headquarters of the Hwoźna Protection District.

📜 History and Heritage


🔹 Before World War II, Zamosze was an independent village.
🔹 In 1941, the residents were displaced by the Germans, and the village was destroyed.
🔹 After the war, some inhabitants returned, but the village was not rebuilt in its original location.
🔹 A memorial cross made from narrow-gauge railway tracks stands by the road from Masiewo to the Głuszec forest area.

🌿 Nature and Tourism


🔹 The settlement lies on the edge of the Białowieża National Park, within the Hwoźna Protection District.
🔹 The green Wolf Trail passes through Zamosze – leading through the Głuszec forest area, the narrow-gauge railway skansen, an erratic boulder, and the “Through Three Communities” boardwalk.
🔹 The trail ends near Kosy Most, where there is a bison observation platform.
